Lagoon x 2

So, thanks to Aunt Anna and Grandma Blair, we got some super great deals on tickets to Lagoon, and got to go for $10 a head each time. We hadn't been for a few summers, and we knew our girls loved the rides, so we jumped at the chance. Both times we headed in as close to opening as we could and left at closing time, both times the kids were not ready to stop. All the kids are good sports, and Mayzie has a real need for speed, so it made it really fun. Even Lyssa, our most timid girl, went on some really scary rides! They were so brave. It made it extra fun to have grandparents and cousins there to share the fun with. The second time we went (a Tuesday) the park was not as busy and we had great luck with short lines.

Here is our Lagoon review, and favorite picks:

Dave: LOVED Wicked! Rode it about 10 times. Also loved Bombora, new coaster this year. Faced his fear on Wild Mouse, and thumbs down on the Bat, too bumpy and short

Cindy: likes Colossus and Scrambler best, braved Wicked and the Rocket side that shoots you up, but they weren't my favorites. Really liked Lagoona beach, had fun with the kids there in the water.

Aubrie: Biggest daredevil of all, this 11 yr old will go on ANYTHING! She really liked Samurai, Rattlesnake Rapids, and Wicked.

Alyssa: LOVES Music USA, she will ride this over and over if you let her. Also really liked Dinosaur Egg drop and Flying Aces. Thumbs down on the Rocket, definitely not her favorite!

Bethany: Loved Lagoona Beach, Terrorride, Screamer, and Spider, she was very brave!

Mayzie: Loved Dinosaur Egg drop, Bombora and the Skyride, and the Ferris Wheel. That thing is big. And all the kiddie rides. And Lagoona Beach.

Even though we were there all day, the time flew by and it was fun to spend the days together.

Silver Lake, 4th of July and other fun stuff

I am almost having more fun in the summertime as a mom than I did as a kid, if that's possible. Also, it has not been so freaking 100 degrees hot like July usually is, so I've actually been enjoying the weather :) Except don't run 3 miles in the middle of a hot day because you will either melt or feel nauseous, or both, so I won't do that again.

We got a new splash pad near our house, and it's been a fun place to go hang out, just pack up a picnic and walk down the street. We've also been doing some pop-its and sparklers :)

We had the Blair Family Reunion at Regina's house, and all the kids had lots of fun! Pinatas, swimming, good food, trampoline, glo-sticks, painting maraccas, and I even won a T-shirt for bringing grandma's favorite salsa :) Oh, and lots of cute babies and puppies to hold.

The kids had a blast on the 4th of July. Aubrie and Alyssa got to be in the Kaysville parade with their cousins, and Bethy and Mayzie had fun watching the parade and collecting candy and toys.

Then we went to my sister's for a Birthday party and water games. The kids made up a fun game where they run down the hill, slide down the slip and slide, and crash into eachother in a dogpile at the end, then everybody races to the top to start the process over again :)

Later we headed back over to the Blairs for some backyard fireworks and then to the High School for the big show. A long but fun filled day for us.

We really are grateful to live in a country where freedom is valued so highly, and we teach our children to respect and admire all the soldiers who sacrifice so much, so that we can enjoy our freedoms back here at home. How blessed we are to be able to share life with our family and friends and make so many fun memories for our kids.

Later in the month we got a chance to go up and visit Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon with our friends the Struhs'. We could not ask for nicer friends than the Struhs family, and they invited us to visit them at their cabin up by the lake. We had fun exploring the path around the lake, and saw some wildlife and found some snow still. Then went back to the cabin for some dinner and games. We also saw lots of deer on the drive back down the canyon. Pretty cool.

We've had lots of cousin sleepovers this summer, here's a couple of cute shots I grabbed.
First, Lincoln and Bethy, then cousin Makenna draped around Aubriela. Pretty cute.

And these are some random shots of Mayzie that Aubrie must have taken, but I just found them kind of hilarious. She has her dressed up in Aubrie's red dress and my high heels, and I have no idea what they were doing or pretending, but Mayzie is just funny and a willing subject, I guess.
